Patna native Rajesh Kumar, {an electrical} engineer by occupation, lived in lots of locations throughout India for each his schooling in addition to work. Inspired by these reminiscences of his childhood, the 31-year-old has constructed his own residence with a lush backyard, which is nothing wanting a paradise in a concrete jungle.

‘In loving memory of my grandfather’

When Rajesh returned to Patna, he discovered that all the things was completely different. Gone had been the huge farms of greenery and wonder. So he determined that his personal backyard can be harking back to the Patna he remembered.

He began off by planting saplings of mango, litchi, guava, amla, neem, coconut, orange, banana and rather more. “My aim was to make a small farm. But I ended up planting two-three varieties of each plant,” he gushes. There is a residing space within the backyard the place small get-togethers could be carried out. It is his favorite spot within the farm space, he says.

Apart from fruits, Rajesh grows 20-25 kinds of seasonal greens. After harvesting, they’re distributed to neighbours and relations.

In addition to those, there’s a pond within the midst of the backyard. Rajesh says he bought this concept whereas residing in Kolkata. “Every Bengal house had a pond, which I took note of and implemented here,” he says.

He engaged in fish farming on this pond. Last 12 months, he bought 150 kg of fish from it, which he additionally distributed amongst pals and relations. This 12 months, he’s pondering of promoting the harvested fish. He has additionally reared cows, chickens, rabbits and canines within the farmhouse.

Rajesh’s curiosity in farming is now shared by his four-year-old daughter Shivi. She offers full assist to her father and engages in watering the vegetation or plucking greens on daily basis.

“Transferring the memories I had during my childhood to my daughter was also the purpose of this farm. I am happy that she enjoys it,” he smiles. “Everyone should keep that connection with nature intact because it helps us lead a life full of health and happiness. Doing something similar for the children is the least we can do. They will thank you later just how I thank my grandfather now”
